The College of Science Students’ Association (SCISA) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST), Kumasi, has held a women’s health outreach program at the Kumasi Girls Senior High School.
They organized the program in collaboration with the College of Social Sciences and the University Health Services to promote health awareness and education among young women, with a focus on preventative care and wellness.
The team leader of the University Health Services, Dr. Bright Emmanuel Ampofo, highlighted their objective of spreading breast cancer awareness.
“So I think in the month of breast cancer, the very key message we want to pass around is that breast cancer is curable.”
He emphasized the importance timely diagnosis in recovery.
“Early detection saves lives. So long as you are able to pick it up early, you are assured of cure.”
One of the participants shared her experience of the program stating, “Well it was nice. The doctors were comfortable with us. They spoke to us nicely.”
